On Saturday 21st March, Mazuki hosted a first aid course. The course was conducted by Mr. Kirk Lee - a member of the Royal Life Saving Society. Everyone found the course informative, practical and enjoyable...

In attendance were:
Amanda Delaney Azad Chowdhury Bilinda Butcher Donna Collins Emilia Kielbasa Farouk Khan Jennifer Pena Levi Thomas Maciek Makowski Mark Gopaul Matthew Grizzle Petra Blahova Robert Sowinksi Sarah Gopaul Toby Butcher Tracy Duffy

Here a few things learnt. Did you know?:
1. D. R. S. A. B. C. stands for Danger, Response, Shout for Help, Airway, Breathing and Compression.
2. C.P.R. stands for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.
3. Burns should immediately be immersed under cold water, initially, for at least 10 minutes.
4. Someone suspected of having concussion should be checked out at the hospital – they should not be allowed to drive.
5. For nosebleeds, the soft part of the nose should be gently pinched and the person should lean forwards.
The recommended book for the course was ‘Paediatric First Aid Made Easy’ by Nigel Barraclough, which is very informative and easy to follow.
